John E. Leonard earned his B.Sc. in Mathematics at Oregon State University and his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
He has taught in the U.S at LSU and Villanova, in Asia at KIMEP in Kazakhstan, in Europe at AUBiH in Bosnia and Herzegovina and now teaches at the American University of Nigeria.
He has published on five continents: North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Dr. Leonard has served in administration up to and including the role of dean. He has nearly thirty years of teaching experience.
Dr. Leonard serves AUN as the Dean of Instruction with the responsibility of promoting innovations in pedagogy and ensuring quality in the AUN curricula, course assignments, syllabi, and delivery of teaching and learning. He finds that AUN makes a difference in the development of Nigeria and the university encourages its people to develop fully and make the concept of a development university a reality. He has served as Professor of Economics, Acting Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, Interim Dean of The School of Business & Entrepreneurship as well as Dean of Postgraduate Studies. In the classroom he has taught many classes and he has supervised many independent studies and summer internships.
