The Writing Center (WC) competition for students, entitled “A Season of Writing,” has been extended to February 28.
It was due to end last semester but had to be extended because of the fall semester examinations.
The extension was also prompted by the high level of positive feedback the contest received from the public.
“It’s been brilliantly set up to make participants into very sharp-minded and clever students,” said a proud parent. It will give students the chance to sharpen their skills by tackling a number of problems at a level they are not likely to encounter in their classrooms.
WC says this contest will aid in self-discovery and the art of working with time limits because life itself is full of deadlines.
The sponsors of this competition include President Ensign, Prof. Jacob Udo-Udo Jacob, Professor Boubacar Diop, Prof. Jennifer Tyndall, Prof. Bill Hansen, and Dr Patrick Fay. They have in turn come up with a number of serious and interesting themes: Peacebuilding & Conflict Resolution, Democracy, and Birago Diop’s quotation, “The deeper the tree reaches into nourishing soil, the higher it rises up to the sky.”
The writing competition has the whole AUN community and Yola excited and will give the students of AUN a chance to hone their intellectual and writing skills in a new and challenging way.
