On April 13, the CBN FC were beaten 4-1 in a friendly football match against the Stallions despite a strong second half showing at the AUN football pitch.
Midfielder Hassan Abba,"Ozil" put the hosts ahead with a well taken penalty and then an early brace from winger Abbas Abubakar put Stallions firmly in charge before half time. However, the match was over as a contest when the Stallions scored early in the second period via a Kenny Kehinde fine finish before Jajere Usman scored a late consolation goal for the visitors with three minutes to play.
The game was a lively affair with the Stallions taking the lead in the fifth minute through Hassan Abba's penalty. He bamboozled the CBN defenders with his trickery and was fouled in the box by right back, Isa Mohammed, forcing the referee to award a penalty which he converted with ease, to the joy of Head Coach Sadiq Yahaya Ado.
After some good pressure and high pressing from the home team, the lively Hassan split the defense with a perfect through pass for Winger Abbas Abubakar to hit past CBN goalkeeper Ahmed Bamanga in the 20th minute.
Kabiru Ibrahim and Strike Partner Jajere Usman threatened as CBN settled into their passing rhythm. It was Usman's chipped ball that nearly halved the deficit, only for Danladi Bwala's powerful drive from 25 yards to fly inches over the bar.
The impressive duo of Hassan Abba and Endorz Chibuzor dictated the tempo of the midfield for the Stallions, and it was their clever build up play that set up Abbas Abubakar in the 35th minute to volley and score his second goal to make it 3-0.
Stallions industrious Striker Kenny Kehinde made it 4-0 just before halftime, tapping in a low cross from Abubakar Prince as just reward for a good shift.
CBN FC made a bright start to the second half and played with a much better tempo. Kabiru Ibrahim had two snapshots from outside the penalty area, but goalkeeper Lerato was able to make solid saves to prevent them from finding the net. Eventually the reward for their positive second half performance came when Jajere latched onto a pass from substitute Aliyu Isa, raced in on goal and produced a composed low finish underneath the body of Lerato to make it 4-1.
CBN head coach Festus Murealewe spurred his boys on, urging them to try and get another goal but they were ultimately unable to claw themselves back, despite their brave second half performance.
