Volunteer Opportunities

Parent Leadership

This is an exclusive group of parents serving the University as mentors and advisers. They discuss challenges and opportunities related to student life, working closely with the dean of students by providing insight and advice.

Parents Leaders have open dialogues with students about how to promote personal health and balance. They talk about how to cope with stress, alcohol/drug, nutrition, sleep, exercises and relationships. They work with students in identifying problems, developing a plan, and proffering solutions independently.

Host an Event

This is an avenue for AUN parents to connect with members of the community outside the campus. Volunteers may organize outdoor or indoor events.

Public Speaking

Parents volunteer to be panel members on talk shows to topical issues on campus, participate in workshops, classes, and with student groups.

Parent Ambassador

This is aimed at organizing a group of volunteer parents who are passionate about the school to purposefully talk positively about the school among their peers. The goal is to keep the AUN spirit strong on campus and at home.

Ambassadors attend summer orientation to connect with parents of incoming freshmen, answer questions and share experiences. They meet periodically (probably in a member’s house) to chart and brainstorm how best to achieve set goals and targets. Participation is usually just for a year.

Donations and Gifts

Parent volunteers are encouraged to give to the parents fund to finance activities such as the AUN scholarship, students life- to enhance students services such as career development efforts, campus activities, life changing research by the Atiku Center for Research and Development, mentoring programs with student entrepreneurs, proposed school of medicine and engineering laboratories, etc.

Mentoring

A parent professional network , connects parents who are professionals in their fields with students who are interested in learning more about specific careers.

AUN parents’ mentors will help the stallions explore career fields, prepare for the working world and connect with opportunities.

Working closely with the career development center, they can contribute their expertise through career education, networking programs, externship, internship and job opportunities.
