SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Psychologist III provides foundational psychological services, supporting emotional, behavioral, academic, and social well-being of students. The role includes assessments, counselling, crisis assistance, and the coordination of care for students with special needs in accordance with the University's established policies and procedures.
DETAILED LISTING OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist students in identifying emotional and behavioral concerns.
- Conduct preliminary psychological assessments and interviews.
- Provide individual counselling for stress management, adjustment difficulties, and mild emotional challenges.
- Support crisis intervention and emergency response under supervision.
- Assist in coordinating care for students with special needs, including those with learning difficulties and developmental or behavioral challenges.
- Work collaboratively with the Health Center, Academic Advising, Residence Life, and other units to implement support plans.
- Monitor referrals and follow-up care as directed by the Director.
- Assist in mental health campaigns, workshops, and awareness activities.
- Participate in annual mental health calendar events and wellness initiatives.
- Support documentation, case file management, and confidential record keeping.
- Participate in case review meetings and unit planning activities.
- Assist in implementing psychological services policies and procedures.
- Carry out other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for the position:
- BSc Psychology (required). MSc in Clinical, Health, Developmental or Counseling Psychology (added advantage).
- Completed undergraduate or postgraduate internship in a mental health–related organization for at least six (6) months.
- Experience working with adolescents or young adults is an added advantage.
Other requirements/abilities for the position.
- Strong foundation in psychological principles and basic counselling skills.
- Ability to maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Proficiency in social media, content creation, basic graphics design, and digital communication tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general IT skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and handle multiple tasks.
