Chukwuemeka Patrick Abbey

Assistant Professor

Dr. Abbey obtained his first degree in Industrial Physics (B-Tech Physics) from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, a Master’s degree (MSc) in Geophysics from the University of Lagos, and a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the Moddibo Adama University of Technology Yola.

As part of his research work during the doctoral program, Abbey analyzed the causes of overpressure buildup in the Niger Delta, Nigeria, and the Mid-Norwegian Margin, Norway. He integrated seismic inversion, rock physics, and the Probabilistic neural network approach in predicting, determining, and modeling the abnormal pore pressure regime in these deltaic and tidal basins.

He has presented papers in local and international conferences, with one of his conference papers at the Arabian Journal of Geosciences in 2020 in Tunisia, selected for publication in a special issue (AJGS). He also has several publications articles in Elsevier, Springer, and University-based journals indexed in Scopus and web of science.

Doctoral dissertation title:  PREDICTION, DETERMINATION AND 3-D MODELING OF ABNORMAL PORE PRESSURE WITHIN THE OFFSHORE NIGER DELTA AND MID- NORWEGIAN MARGIN
