"The impact that the American University of Nigeria has on the Northeastern region of Nigeria is not easily quantifiable. The university touches many lives through its economic development efforts and its social welfare outreach. To be recognized by the world's premier "impact" rankings as a top university, the Times Higher Education, is a testament to the magnitude of the university's lasting positive influence in the area. AUN will continue to play a pivotal role in the development of the region as the best years are ahead of us," said AUN President Dr. DeWayne Frazier.
The Ranking by THE portrayed AUN as more than just an institution but rather as a catalyst for transformative change, highlighting the university's robust expertise and resources, which play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AUN students, empowering them, and enriching the communities, said Provost Dr. James Adewale.
"We are immensely proud of this recognition, yet our journey continues with steadfast dedication. Our impact speaks volumes of our profound contributions to society and it underscores AUN relentless pursuit of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reaffirms AUN role as stewards of positive change," he concluded.
With more than 270 universities in Nigeria, the AUN's position is noteworthy for celebration and coincides with the commemoration of AUN's 20th anniversary.
As an institution focused on development, AUN equips students for lifelong service learning through regular and active community service activities. These activities enable students to identify and solve problems in the local communities, bridging the knowledge gap between the host communities and the University.
This year, the American University of Nigeria is marking its 20th anniversary by offering tuition scholarships, focusing on students from the northeast region and the entire country who are interested in pursuing STEM courses at the university.
