On Friday, January 17, 2025, the American University of Nigeria (AUN) officially welcomed 13 new faculty members at the start of the Spring 2025 semester. The event, hosted by AUN President Dr. DeWayne Frazier, marked the integration of faculty members across five of the university's seven schools.
As part of its commitment to ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency, AUN organized an orientation session for the new faculty members in the 24-hour Library. The program provided a comprehensive introduction to the university's policies, resources, and institutional goals. During his address, President Frazier highlighted AUN's resilience in overcoming global economic challenges and national power grid issues to build a more sustainable and forward-thinking institution.
He shared updates on the university's progress toward adopting green energy solutions and emphasized the robust Educational Management System in place to simplify academic responsibilities for faculty. President Frazier assured the faculty of support from the university's academic and administrative departments, encouraging them to reach out whenever challenges arise.
Prof. Paul Vita, AUN's new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, while addressing the new faculty members, underscored the importance of upholding AUN's high standards. He also encouraged them to familiarize themselves with the faculty manual for clear guidance on institutional policies.
Prof. Vita emphasized the critical role of teaching and research in maintaining AUN's reputation as a high-quality university. He reminded all faculty members that scheduled classes must not be canceled or rescheduled without proper approval.
The orientation concluded with an interactive session, fostering connections between new and returning faculty members. The session allowed participants to ask questions and gain clarity on various academic and administrative matters.
