AUN’s Stallions Award Night, Celebrating Excellence in Service, Character, and Leadership

The Stallions Award Night at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) was not simply an event, it was a defining affirmation of what excellence looks like when it is lived, not merely spoken. On the evening of April 11, 2026, the Commencement Hall was transformed into a space of recognition, reflection, and reverence, where achievement met purpose and virtue took centre stage.

At its core, the ceremony represented a deliberate pause in a fast-moving world, an institutional decision to honour the quiet discipline of greatness. AUN turned its attention to students who embody its highest ideals: intellectual strength, community service, resilience in adversity, and unwavering integrity. In doing so, the university reaffirmed a timeless truth: achievement is not a moment, but a sustained way of life.

The awards carried significance far beyond their titles. Each recognition reflected stories of persistence, leadership, and character shaped through commitment and sacrifice. From emerging talents to distinguished student leaders, the night celebrated individuals whose contributions continue to define the spirit of the university.

The honourees spanned multiple categories. The Stallion Foal & Nefteos Award went to Fatima Bobbori and Abbas Awal, while Kefas Vanje Zawaya and Tirzah Phillips received the Stallion Tritos & Tetarti Awards. Amina Danjuma was honoured with the Stallion Pentos Award, and Aneef Adesoga Adetunji received both the Evolving Leader and Phoenix Awards. The Stallion Service & Character Awards were presented to Bilkisu Abdulmajid and Rebecca Neni. Bashir Zakari was named Leader of the Year.

Other recognitions included Astabarka Ouzeima as Outstanding International Student; Zinabari Thompson and Salau Mahdi Adeiza as recipients of the Stallion Talent & Tutor Awards; and Ritji Josiah (Male) alongside Tirzah Phillips (Female) as Athletes of the Year.

Adding further depth to the ceremony were the President’s Award and the Dean of Student Affairs Award, presented to students who demonstrated a rare blend of academic distinction and exemplary conduct. These honours reflected AUN’s commitment to producing graduates whose impact extends beyond the classroom into leadership and service.

As the evening drew to a close, one message remained clear: at the American University of Nigeria, excellence is not reserved for a select few, it is a standard cultivated by many. The Stallions Award Night stood as a reminder that true greatness is not merely declared; it is consistently demonstrated and collectively upheld.
