On Saturday, October 16, the Entrepreneurship and leadership Society rolled out the welcome wagon to prospective members. Founded in 2019, The ELS has dedicated each semester to encouraging upcoming entrepreneurs and supporting their various businesses.
"This Semester, the society has big plans." said the President, fourth-year law student Tejiri Karieren. From seminars to excursions and movie nights, the society plans to carry on the torch of positive reinforcement on campus. "Entrepreneurship is necessary these days, especially for our generation." said Aisha Bala, a third-year computer science major.
The benefits of entrepreneurship to student development are crucial. Entrepreneurial education and training allow students to recognize commercial opportunities, self‐esteem, knowledge, and skills to act on them. It includes instruction in opportunity recognition, commercializing a concept, managing resources, and initiating a business venture.
In addition to regular meetings that the club will hold, a bi-weekly book club will take place where students will critique chapters of business books and offer fresh perspectives. "I am really looking forward to the events this semester." said Bello Abubakar, a final-year Economics major.
"The ELS has opened its doors to everyone, and as a potential business person, I cannot wait for the programs to begin, I have so much to learn." said Paul Yakubu, final year Information Systems Major.
