Dr. Zainab Shamsiya Usman is an Assistant Professor of Software Engineering and the current Chair of the Computer Science Department at the American University of Nigeria (AUN). She holds a Ph.D. in Semantic Web Technologies from Oxford Brookes University, UK, where her research focused on leveraging semantic web technologies to recommend sustainable building technology products. She is passionate about software engineering, semantic web technologies, and sustainable development. As a dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Usman has taught and mentored over 200 students, receiving consistently positive feedback for her engaging and impactful teaching methods. She is also the Founder of the AUN Coding Hub, an initiative aimed at equipping students with advanced programming skills, fostering innovation, and preparing them for leadership roles in technology-driven industries. Dr. Usman has actively contributed to the academic community through curriculum development, accreditation processes, and mentorship programs targeting at-risk students. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom, with a strong focus on student success, professional development, and community impact.
