Alumni Reaffirm Commitment to Leadership and Service at 2026 Homecoming Dinner

The American University of Nigeria (AUN) brought together its alumni from across the world on May 6, 2026, for a Homecoming Dinner that highlighted the growing impact of its graduates in leadership, innovation, governance, and community development.

The gathering at the AUN Community Hall reunited graduates from diverse professional fields whose achievements continue to reflect AUN’s emphasis on leadership, entrepreneurship, and service to society. Through award presentations and alumni reflections, the event showcased how AUN graduates are influencing communities, institutions, and public life within and beyond Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, AUN President Dewayne Frazier described the reunion as evidence of the university’s enduring influence through its alumni network. “No matter where life takes you, AUN remains a foundation for leadership, innovation, and service,” he said.

Prof. Frazier noted that the accomplishments of AUN graduates across industries continue to reinforce the university’s reputation as a hub for transformative education in Africa. He encouraged alumni to deepen their involvement in mentoring students, supporting innovation, and building partnerships capable of expanding opportunities for future generations. “You are ambassadors of this university,” he said. “Your achievements validate the values we teach and demonstrate the kind of leadership Africa needs.”

He further highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen student innovation, academic excellence, and institutional development, describing alumni engagement as central to the university’s long-term growth.

The event also recognized alumni whose professional achievements and community contributions continue to expand AUN’s influence nationally and internationally.

Mr. Tosin Komolafe received the AUN Distinguished Alumni Award for his contributions to innovation and professional excellence. Mr. Komolafe credited AUN with shaping his problem-solving mindset and commitment to creating impactful solutions. “AUN challenged us to think beyond the classroom and develop solutions capable of creating real societal impact,” he said.

Mr. Idris Mamman received the AUN Alumni Award for Impact on the AUN Community for creating the widely recognized “I Love AUN” symbol, now regarded as a lasting representation of unity and institutional pride.

The event further highlighted the growing presence of AUN alumni in public service and governance through the recognition of Mr. Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, a gubernatorial aspirant in Adamawa State. He described the recognition as an affirmation of shared values within the AUN community. “Any success we achieve reflects the values of leadership, service, and excellence instilled by AUN,” he said.

Beyond the celebrations, the reunion reinforced the university’s commitment to sustaining a strong alumni network capable of supporting mentorship, collaboration, and institutional growth.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Alumni Relations Coordinator Mr. Victor Igberaese said the reunion demonstrated the strength of the AUN community and the shared commitment of its graduates to advancing the university’s legacy. “Tonight was not just about reconnecting with old friends, but about strengthening the sense of impact that defines AUN alumni worldwide,” he said.
