On January 30, 2020, the newly inaugurated executive members of AUN Community Cooperative Society paid a visit to the office of the University Provost, Professor Muhammadou Kah.
The visit which was driven by the society’s President, Adamu Umar, is focused on seeking the opinion and support of the provost, as well as to convince him to join the society being an expatriate & a top official in the university.
Mr. Umar enlightened the provost about the existence of the society and its achievements.
“The Cooperative Society has been assisting members of the AUN community for the past 10 years, and has progressively developed new opportunities its members can benefit from.”
He further said that through this noble body, members have enjoyed some of these benefits: flexible loan repayment with a token interest of 5 percent, food items during festive periods, electronic gadgets and automobiles on installment refund.
“We have also funded people’s investments and supported our members with chemicals and implements to boost their farming activities.”
Professor Kah appreciated their visit and all they have been doing. He acknowledged the fact that he wasn’t a ,member not by intention because he was not aware of the cooperative society’s existence as he is familiar with the benefits of being part of such a body.
“I assure you that I will not only support the Society as the provost but as a member.”
Provost Kah suggested strategies which the Society can adopt in enhancing membership drive, including liaising with the University Relations to facilitate effective communication with faculty and creating an e-form on the University website for membership enrolment.
On the team together with the president were the following members of the cooperative society: Ogechi Dan-Okereke (Vice President), Emeka Ofemelu (Interim Financial Secretary), Paul Lukor (Public Relations Officer), and Dayine Njede Samson (Provost).
