AUN STARS Club Holds Orientation Session

On September 17, 2021, the AUN Student Team Advancing Regional Sustainability (STARS) Club held an orientation meeting at the e-library to inform members about the club's objectives and program of activities for the semester.

STARS coordinates University-wide sustainability activities and, according to its Director, Raymond Obindu, all members of the community – students, faculty, and staff – are fully involved.

According to Mr. Obindu, the club has generated income above N8million through several community-based projects such as waste management and recycling, water management, Ecosentials, Bio-Diesel, and Ecobricks (building with waste plastic bottles).

On producing new products, he commented, "That is why we call it waste to wealth," he said.

He also showed how students were able to save the university a lot of money through proper energy management. He encouraged members to do more to promote development in the University and society.

"You can meet-up, you can catch-up, you can do more and you can pass it on to others", the STARS Director said.
