Cooperative Society Executives Begin Sensitization of Senior Management

Following the recent inauguration of a new executive committee for the AUN Community Cooperative Society, President Adamu Umar led the team on a courtesy visit to the top management staff of the university.

Vice President for University Relations, Dr. Abba Tahir, received the team at his office during the January 24, 2020  visit.

Mr. Umar thanked him for his general participation and active role in general meetings.

"We are here as a team to seek for your advice, to seek for your support and guidance as an elder statesman, as a seasoned cooperator, and as an immediate past president and much more important as the Vice President for University Relations."

He said his legacy as President continues to remind them of their laudable contributions to the Society.

"You have left a legacy from which the society will continue to benefit and enjoy. Part of that legacy is the acquisition of the Bole land."

He went on to tell the VP that the members of the society recognize his vision for the ten-year-old organization during his reign as President in helping to diversify its investment portfolio.

"You did not only secure the Bole land for housing within the shortest possible time frame, but you have as well secured an investment plaza for the Society."

Besides laying a solid foundation for the investment of the plaza VP Tahir also helped facilitate the registration of the Society in the federal housing scheme which has helped it secure 38.1 hectares of land.

VP Tahir challenged the team to explore new opportunities in running the cooperative.

"You need to further diversify your investment portfolio."

On the same day, the team visited Assistant Vice President, HR & Planning, Nourah Bamalli. President Umar thanked him for his contributions to the Society. He said that the AVP's presence at the Society's meetings always motivates the executive members. "It signifies acceptance and support."

He also expressed gratitude to the AVP for helping to facilitate the registration of the Society in the Housing scheme.

"You encouraged me to pursue the housing scheme."

After congratulating the team on their elections, AVP Bamalli told them that a lot is being expected from them.

"Leadership is not easy. Tough election means that you have to work harder. When you scale through a tough election, it means the stakes are higher for you. So the expectations of members are quite high."

He further told the team that doing anything below that expectation will not be acceptable by the members who voted them into office.

Among other top management staff visited by the EXCOs  include the Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Barrister Idi Haladu Ali, Assistant VP Security & Safety Ops, Dr. Lionel Von Fredrick Rawlins, the CIO, Francis Chaming, and the Executive Director, Communications & Publications, Daniel Okereke.

The team also intends to see President Dekle and the VP for Academic Affairs & Provost, Prof. Muhammadou Kah.
