On January 18, 2020 Business Administration Students of Taraba State University Visited AUN. The 130 students were received by the Senior Director, PR & Marketing, Yusuf Mohammed.
Mr. Mohammed gave a brief history of AUN. He said while the university started in September 2005 with three schools, it has gone on to provide three additional schools since then.
He told the students that the focus of the university is to train leaders who are aware of the various problems of society and seek solutions to them.
He further added that one of the strategies to ensure this is requiring that every student participates in the community service program. The essence, he said, is to make them become responsible leaders.
He said the diversity at AUN is great as the university has up to 40 countries being represented by either the faculty or students.
As for the opportunities available, they abound, Yusuf told the students. They include work-study that gives the student an opportunity to work and gain experience while earning money; and the Study Abroad programs where a student can spend a semester or two in a school in the US or UK and transfer his/her credit back to AUN.
The students toured the environmental building constructed with waste containers used in bringing furniture for the library building.
This building consumes less energy as there are solar tubes fitted on the roof of the building that provides natural lighting.
The students saw the solar panels that also serve as roofing for the car park . They generate a percentage of the electric power consumed in the administration buildings.
The teacher who led the delegation, Abubakar Jaafaru Marafa, described the visit as another learning opportunity for the students.
