Manager, Purchase & Procurement

The Manager, Purchasing and Procurement reports to the Director Administration and will be charged with the responsibility of interpreting, administering and explaining Policies, Procedures, Regulations and Guidelines on University procurement. Writing specifications for the creation of public solicitations for goods and services needed by the University. Interaction with department personnel to process purchase orders through the OpenErp Platform (ERP). Review University service contracts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions of the American University of Nigeria. Directly negotiates acceptable contract terms and conditions for the purchase of Goods and Services for the American University of Nigeria. Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales. Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment. Interpret, administer and explain federal and state laws, regulations and guidelines governing procurement activities. Write specifications for the creation of public solicitations for goods and services and ability to write specifications, prepare bid documents, handle bidding process, analyse all bid results, negotiates legal contracts and forms.

Implement goals and objectives and methods for management of purchasing activities. Execute the bidding process according to AUN policies and procedures.

Requirements for the position:

  • Sc. or HND in Business Admin and Management (Master’s degree will be an added advantage) with at least a minimum of 10 years’ work experience in risk management.
  • Certificate
  • Professional certification and technical knowledge through courses, seminars in supply chain and purchasing.
  • International purchasing experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, industry knowledge with ability to conduct research in order to identify and keep current with industry and market developments.
  • Self-starter with ability to work individually and as part of a team. Strong oral, written communication and decision making skills.
  • Computer knowledge and other analytical tool will serve as a plus.
