A Thrilling Homecoming Week at AUN

A Thrilling Homecoming Week at AUN

Throughout last week, the students at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) celebrated Homecoming Week with passion. With a series of student-centered weeklong activities, students tapped into their hearts and cooperativeness to make the events memorable. Students who participated enjoyed the well-organized events.

The weeklong Homecoming events started with the Awareness Day, observed on Monday, November 13. On that day, students wore outfits with colors that matched their preferred social cause. Some students wore orange to raise awareness of bullying, pink for cancer awareness, and teal for sexual abuse awareness. On November 14, School Spirit Day was celebrated. It was the day students proudly showed their school spirit by wearing AUN's red, blue, and green colors.

On November 15, students marked Wednesday Pink Day. The idea came from the iconic movie – 'Mean Girls,' where the quote, "On Wednesdays, we wear pink," was popularized. On November 16, Jersey Day was celebrated. Students showed up to classes in the jerseys of their favorite teams, which included football jerseys, basketball jerseys, and eSports jerseys. On November 17, a treasure hunt was organized at the Student Hub. On Saturday, November 18, the Homecoming Football game was held at the school's field by 4 pm. And finally, the week was concluded with a concert by three Nigerian artists – Adhnok, BadBoy Timz, and 3N4WRLD.

The Homecoming activities ended on a high note. With students more vibrant and inspired by their cooperative spirit than ever, they were ready to head back to classes on Monday. AUN students used the occasion of the 2023 Homecoming to showcase their creativity and passion for their beloved university. Go Stallions!
