Academic Planning & Quality Assurance Office Holds Team Building Workshop

The Office of Academic Planning & Quality Assurance organized a team-building workshop on December 6, 2019.

The workshop was facilitated by the Senior Director of Academic Budgeting & Finance, Ms. Karin Rheeder, who explored the comparison between a high-performance team and a dysfunctional one. She explained the importance of participants to understand themselves and their team members.

"If you understand how you use your energy, how you make decisions, how you react to things, then you understand yourself. And if you understand what your team members are like, then you also understand them. You will understand their actions. It means you have a better understanding of how you operate within a team."

Director of Academic Planning & Quality Assurance, Dr. Samuel Tesunbi, said the workshop would serve as a precursor to many others that they need as a department.

Dr. Tesunbi, a professor of Marketing Communications in the Communications & Multimedia Design (CMD) program, added that the essence of the workshop is for the team members to work smarter and better.

Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor Mohammadou Kah, challenged the participants to accelerate the effort to maintain AUN at the level of world-class universities.

The Provost said the team's focus should be to keep AUN on the path of excellence and in compliance with standards. He pointed out the importance of their job in meeting the requirements set out for the University by the National Universities Commission (NUC), which he termed "the requirements to deliver an American-style education within the context of Nigeria and Africa."

Stressing the role that trust plays in building a team, the Provost, whose office oversees Academic Planning & Quality Assurance, said, "As a team, we can accomplish a lot. We are going to achieve all our goals together. No one can claim ownership of any success in this department because, without the contribution of others, you cannot say I did it."
