Activities Expo 2020 Excites New Students

Students and staff members on Friday, January 31, 2020, convened at the Commencement Hall for the spring semester activities expo. Hosted for new students especially, the event serves as a guide for students to find the societies that best suit their interests. Freshmen recounted the exhilarating night.

"I was excited to find out that AUN has a Public Speaking Club," said David Asten, a first-year Politics & International Politics major. "I already anchor events, so to see the Club here is very thrilling."

True to its tradition, party games, food, and dance were the highpoints of the event. Yanice Akoh, an Accounting major in her second year, wowed spectators with her dance steps. She was thrilled to have won.

"I was very focused; I think that is why I won," she said after defeating eight competitors in the dancing chairs contest.

Societies such as the Orators Club have their work cut out for them this semester as freshmen gathered at the Club's stand for signups.

"I believe this semester will be an interesting one," said Osaze Aruede, a final-year student and program coordinator for the Club. "We have events that we could have hosted last semester but could not. So, I believe this semester will not only have its events but rollover events from the fall of 2019."

AUN’s commitment to the all-round development of students was on display at the activities expo. From the assortment of student clubs and societies at this year's expo, it is quite possible that Spring 2020 is off to an amazing start.
