On November 30, an old girl of AUN Academy, Miss Beauty Etsanyi Tukura, emerged as the winner of the prestigious Miss Nigeria pageant held at the Eko Convention Center in Lagos.
And her alma mater couldn't be prouder.
Beaming with pride, the Executive Director of AUN Schools, Mrs. Nkem Uzowulu, said it felt as though it was Christmas Day.
"Knowing who Beauty was even as a student here, it is no surprise at all."
Speaking through the Director of Admissions & Public Relations of AUN Schools, Austin Samuel, Mrs. Uzowulu said the AUN Academy has a proud history of building and shaping the dreams of students.
Only six years ago as a high school student, Ms. Beauty, who was then the Social Prefect, was already showing signs of becoming a huge force in the beauty pageant industry. Her academic standing and social life were balanced; she was an 'A' student, a top performer.
Beauty Tukura, who emerged Miss Taraba 2016, took home the ultimate prize at the Miss Nigeria pageant, coming tops from the 18 finalists at the grand finale. Popular Nollywood actress Rita Dominic, leading fashion designer Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, and beautician Tara Durotoye formed the panel of judges who found Miss Tukura deserving of the crown.
Tukura, a law graduate from Afe Babalola University and native of Taraba State, also took home a new car and a luxury apartment as part of the star prize.
"At AUN Academy, we always focus on the big picture", Mr. Samuel said, adding, "we do not take our students for granted; our duty is to nurture and groom them into world leaders with a global mindset. It is amazing that our student now wears the Miss Nigeria crown but we are not surprised"
At AUN Academy, confidence-building is an essential component of students' training. Right from the day they step into the school, students are challenged to see themselves as leaders; in the way they dress, speak and interact with their colleagues and teachers. The school empowers students through debates and public speaking and boosts their confidence through facility tours as well as interaction with academic deans, faculty, and even the President of AUN
The AUN Academy plans to host a reception for the reigning queen of Nigeria.
