AUN-AID Harvests Fresh Fish, Offers Discounts to Community Members

On Thursday, September 26, 2024, the new leadership of the Atiku Institute for Development of the American University of Nigeria (AUN-AID) conducted a flash sale of fresh fish harvested from its demonstration farm located near the AUN maintenance compound. Members of the university community gathered at the sales to take advantage of the heavily discounted rates.

Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Hussaini, AUN-AID Administrator of Grants and Contracts, had graciously approved a discount of N1,500 to the first thirty university employees who arrived at the demonstration farm. Dr. Abubakar, who is also the Dean of the School of Engineering, used the occasion to appreciate the effort of the former President of AUN, Margee Ensign, who was the brain behind the establishment of the AUN-AID, describing her as a "visionary leader."

Speaking at the sale's opening, President DeWayne Frazier commended the initiative and described it as the beginning of a new era. The President said the subsidized sale not only underscored the vital role of agricultural production in the AUN community, but also manifested the commitment of his administration to the welfare of employees and their families.

Some employees who had the opportunity to purchase from the sale shared their positive experience. Mr. Samson A. Mshelia, Director of Student Account and Head of Bursary, described the sale as awesome and a beneficial initiative that offers a more affordable option than the market. Ms. Helen Japhet, a staff member of the Facility Management Department, also expressed her appreciation for the initiative.
