A recent study has asserted that a country's reputation shapes public perceptions, attracts investment, and promotes economic development. At the same time, good governance is essential for promoting environmental sustainability and addressing pressing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, and natural resource depletion.
The study, "Moving Towards the Path of Environmental Sustainability in Developing‑8 Countries: investigating the role of Country's Reputation in mitigating environmental externalities," has AUN's faculty member in the Communication & Multimedia Design program, Ms. Janet Aver Adikpo, as lead author, and was published in the September 2023 edition of Environmental Science and Pollution Research, a Springer publication.
This study examines the impact of a country's reputation on environmental sustainability in Developing-8 countries using panel data obtained from the Worldwide Governance Indicators and World Development Indicators from 1996 to 2020. The "Developing-8" refers to countries grouped into the "Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation", which include Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.
