AUN Dorm Project initiative impacts community's educational landscape – Head Teacher, Sanda Girls

On April 12,2024, the residents of Gabrielle Volpi Residence Halls, American University of Nigeria (AUN), participated in the yearly residential project competition, showcasing their dedication to community service. The residents chose to cover school fees for pupils at Sanda Girls Primary School, a noble initiative to provide educational support to the community.

The headteacher, staff, and community leaders of Sanda Primary School warmly welcomed the AUN Volpi residence. The AUN students' gestures, which were met with tears of gratitude, visibly touched them. They expressed profound gratitude, emphasizing the immense impact of the students' contribution to their school and community.

Israel Curtis-Dike, the Resident Assistant of Volpi Boys and a third-year law student at AUN, expressed his joy at the project's success and his unwavering belief in the student's ability to do even better in the future to support the girls. "I am glad we are able to pull up this project, and I am confident that in the near future, we will surpass our current efforts in supporting the girls."

Also, the Headteacher of Sanda Girls Primary School, Mrs. Hauwa Abbas, emphasized the initiative's transformative impact on the community's educational landscape, explicitly mentioning how it has helped the pupils at Sanda Girls Primary School.

Mrs. Abbas also lamented the deplorable condition of the school toilets, expressing her deep concern for the well-being of the female students who face daily challenges in using them. She stressed that maintaining good hygiene is not just important but crucial to creating a healthy learning environment and preventing the spread of toilet-related diseases. The headteacher passionately appealed to AUN to consider addressing this pressing challenge.
