The American University of Nigeria implements mandatory community service to cultivate academic growth and community engagement. Every year, the residential halls at AUN come together to participate in a community service project competition. The students work collaboratively to identify projects that can positively impact the community and then organize fundraising efforts to support their chosen cause. This event promotes a spirit of teamwork and community engagement among the students.
Aisha Kande residents' generosity covered the school fees for three girls: Aisha Ibrahim and Fatima Ibrahim, both of Sanda Girls Primary School, and Ruqayyah Mohammed Bulo of Government Secondary School Girei. Additionally, they provided the girls with school uniforms.
Aisha Kande, Resident Director Margaret Etuk, stated that supporting the community is exceedingly commendable when capable. She commended the students for their fundraising efforts and hoped the gesture would be extended to include the provision of books and writing materials to further support the endeavors.
The head teacher and the staff extended their gratitude to AUN for its efforts and contributions, acknowledging the profound impact these contributions will have on the lives of the enrolled students.
