The American University of Nigeria (AUN) has received the National Universities Commission's (NUC) approval to offer five more Graduate degree courses.
The newly approved programs include the Master of Business Administration (MBA), which will be offered in a hybrid mode. The School of Business & Entrepreneurship (SBE) already runs M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs in addition to the Postgraduate Diploma. Offering the highly-rated MBA in a hybrid mode will offer ambitious and busy professionals in major cities an opportunity to take full advantage of AUN's advanced technological support and learning facilities to further their careers.
Also approved for AUN by the NUC is a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Communication for Social and Behavior Change. The Master's program, which is developed and will be run in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), will be domiciled in the Communication & Multimedia Design (CMD) department.
The CMD department also got approval to offer M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Communication and Multimedia Design courses. AUN's CMD department offers Public Relations/Advertising, Journalism, Multimedia Design, and Radio/Television/Film concentrations at the Bachelor's degree level.
AUN also got approval from NUC to offer M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Petroleum Chemistry and M.A. in English Language and Literature.
The Petroleum Chemistry Department offers two concentrations in Oil & Gas Chemistry and Petrochemical & Polymer Science at the undergraduate level.
All the newly approved Graduate School programs will begin in Fall 2023.
The NUC approvals were conveyed in a letter to the President of the University dated March 3, 2023, and signed by Dr. N.B. Saliu, Director of Academic Planning, for the Executive Secretary.
Interim President of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Professor Attahir Yusuf, described the new approvals as affirming the NUC's confidence in AUN's institutional integrity.
The new approvals bring to 20 the total number of programs offered by the AUN Graduate School.
Recall that AUN recently received the NUC's approval to introduce B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree programs in Data Science and Analytics which it began offering in the 2021/2022 academic session. These new programs are in addition to Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Information Systems, which the University offers at the Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate, Postgraduate diploma, and professional levels.
The NUC also approved AUN to offer a hybrid option for existing postgraduate professional Master in Information and Communication Science (MCIS) and Master in Telecoms and Wireless Technologies (MTWT). This will allow candidates to study for any of these professional Master's programs in a regular or hybrid mode.
The American University of Nigeria already offers Master's, Postgraduate diplomas, and doctorate degrees in Business Administration.
In addition, AUN offers Bachelor's degrees in Software Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Systems with concentrations in A.I. and Machine Learning, Algorithms and Complexity, Information Security and Assurance, and Software Applications Development.
