On the evening of May 7, 2026, members of the AUN Honor Society and the wider university community convened at the AUN Community Hall for a dinner and awards night dedicated to recognizing graduating members who exemplified leadership, resilience, diligence, excellence, character, and service.
Professor Abubakar Sadiq Hussaini, Adviser to the Honor Student Society, described the AUN Honor Society as a community grounded in discipline, compassion, accountability, and leadership, where academic excellence is inseparable from responsibility to others.
According to him, members of the Honor Society are expected to model excellence both within and beyond the university environment. “The Honor Society is known for character, integrity, excellence, and service,” he said. “It is a body of students who continually prove that excellence and humanity can coexist.”
A key highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Service Award, which recognizes graduating members who demonstrated exceptional commitment to community engagement and service. In addition, several distinguished members of the Society were honored. Sharon Pedro-Dimas and Israel Dike were recognized for their consistent involvement in community-focused initiatives and their sustained support for peers across campus life.
The Best Tutor Award was also presented to graduates who devoted significant time and effort to supporting fellow students academically. The award acknowledges not only academic strength but also mentorship, patience, and intellectual generosity. Rebecca Neni and Mahadi Hadiza were named recipients of the award.
The ceremony concluded with a formal transition of leadership within the Honor Society, as outgoing President Sharon Pero-Dimas handed over to Bilkisu Abdulkadir Alkali, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another in the Society’s leadership continuity.
The event ended with this transition of power, underscoring the Honor Society’s enduring emphasis on institutional legacy, continuity, and student-led governance.
