AUN is Safe, We're Expecting Your Kids, AVP Rawlins Assures Parents

The Assistant Vice President for Safety & Security, Dr. Lionel von Rawlins, has reassured concerned parents regarding the safety of their wards which is, he assures them, the very top priority for his team. AVP Rawlins has been traveling across the country speaking to returning and prospective parents, emphasizing the serenity and peace for which Yola and Adamawa State have been traditionally known.

He also gave assurances that his men and women are deploying the latest technologies in extending their vigilance over the campus and community, although for obvious reasons, he declined to go into details.

To parents, Dr. Rawlins advised: "if you are going to send your children to school, find out what kind of security the school has, do not take it for granted. If you don't know, go find out yourself; if you cannot find out, send someone to find out for you. If the University doesn't have good, proper, smart, young, educated security staff, don't send them there. If on the other hand, the security team is built around young, smart, intelligent, educated people, that's where you send your children.

"Learning has gone beyond calculating math or acquiring skills; learning is also about growing up, participating in a learning environment, a nurturing environment, an environment where your children can grow and feel safe, where they can do the things they want to do. It is about where they can learn and grow at a safe time. If your children are not growing in that environment, don't send them there. Here at the American University of Nigeria, our core objective is to keep students, faculty, and staff safe. We do that every day; I promise you if you send your children here, we will take care of them as no else one could. I am telling you this because I know. Send them to Adamawa; we are not just the land of beauty, but the land of peace".
