On September 21, 2022, a team of USAID officials paid a courtesy visit to the Interim President, Prof. Attahir Yusuf. The visiting team comprised the Agreement Office Representative, Ms. Lynda Ashaolu; Finance Analyst, Odunaya Akins; and Acquisition Assistant Specialist, Maryam Abdullahi. They were led into the President's Office by the Chief of Party of the USAID-SENSE program and Head of the Atiku Institute for Development, Dr. Audu Liman.
During a five minutes' closed-door meeting, the delegation informed the President that they were on campus to close out the highly successful USAID-sponsored Straightening Education in North-East Nigeria (SENSE) Project at a ceremony the following day.
The Strengthening Education in the Northeast Nigerian States (SENSE) Project began in March 2019 with the ambitious and laudable goal of educating and equipping 200,000 children with reading skills. The project was implemented through the Atiku Institute for Development (AID) and had Adamawa and Gombe States as focus/target areas.
