AUN's CIO Chaming Joins Adamawa's GIS Upgrade Committee

Interim Chief Information Officer, Francis Chaming, has been nominated to serve in a technical committee by the Government of Adamawa State. 

The Commissioner of Lands & Survey Hon. Ibrahim Mijinyawa in a letter to President Dekle on February 20, 2020, had requested for Mr. Chaming's release to join a Technical Committee working to upgrade Adamawa State’s Geographic Information System (GIS). 

The request letter, routed through the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Samuel Yaumande, indicated Adamawa's efforts to upgrade its GIS to be at par with other states in Nigeria, with particular reference to Kano and Abuja.

In approving the release of Mr. Chaming to the Ministry, President Dekle expressed delight that AUN, through Francis Chaming, was considered to be part of this important endeavor and assured the Ministry that they can call on us if they need further support.

As Interim Chief Information Officer, Engineer Francis Bagudu Chaming, MNSE, leads AUN's Office of Technology Support (OTS) which oversees the Departments of Information Technology and Information System, the bedrock of the University's avant-garde e-Learning Infrastructure and Service Solutions. 

He holds a Master's of Telecommunication and Wireless Technologies from the American University of Nigeria, and a B. Eng. (Hons.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, as well as a Professional Diploma in Education from Federal College of Education, Yola.

Francis Chaming is trained and certified in various professional Information Technology (IT) industries among which are CE-iS3000 Call, CE/SE Sys-Manager, Voice-Manager, VSAT Networks, CISCO systems, Microsoft Systems, Project Management, ITIL. He is a Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a registered Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and a member of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). 

Before joining AUN, he worked for various IT organizations, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and for ABTI Global Ventures Limited, managing a diverse corporate portfolio of facilities towards delivering service and value to regulars and maximizing throughput.
