Online classes will begin for students of the American University of Nigeria (AUN) with effect from February 27, 2023.
The University is transiting to the virtual classroom mode as it shuts down on Wednesday, February 22, in compliance with the directive of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to close all universities during the period of the national elections. The online classes will end on March 10.
A statement by the University Registrar/Vice President for Administration, Mr. Anthony Fadaka, on Friday, February 17, explained that the University's decision to shut down was not arbitrary. Rather, it complies with the NUC directive. The statement also added that the University decided to conduct online classes to ensure that students do not suffer academically.
"We are doing our best to limit the changes to our calendar so that we can stay on target for our May Commencement and allow for our summer intersession," the statement added.
The American University of Nigeria had previously switched to online classes during the Covid-19 pandemic global shutdown, ensuring that the University did not miss a semester. With its advanced Information Communication Technology facilities and excellent support infrastructures, AUN students and faculty look forward to a seamless and enjoyable virtual class experience.
