The American University of Nigeria hosted its first set of nursing students and the 38th regular pledge and matriculation of new students into the University on January 29th. The event marks a formal commitment to demonstrate and respect AUN's moral principles, Excellence, Integrity, and Service.

Presenting the enrolled students to the President of the University for acceptance, Interim Registrar Mr. Daniel Okereke stated that the diversity of the entering students is impressive, as they came from all over Nigeria.

The President of the University Dr. DeWayne Frazier, congratulated the matriculating students for embarking on such a transformative journey to AUN. “I have witnessed your passion for learning, your thirst for knowledge, and your desire to make a positive impact on the world. You all are in the right place, the impact that you will make will start in this little part of the world and cause ripples throughout the continent”, said the President.

The President also seized the opportunity to acknowledge the dedication, and hard work of the faculty and  staff, as well as returning students for their various contributions in making AUN a prestigious university that it is.

He also thanked the parents for entrusting their children to the care and nurture of AUN. Assuring them that their children will undergo a tremendous, positive transformation with a semester or two because everyone at AUN is involved to bringing out the bests in the students. “We are not just a university, we are a family,” said President DeWayne.

In their separate remarks, the Dean of Students, Mr. Byron Bullock, SGA President Talford Ongolo, and the AUN Honor Society President, Safiyya Auwal, all emphasized that AUN is about more than just academics; it is about building a community and the next generation of leaders.

A cross-section of the matriculating students interviewed expressed excitement because the events marked the start of their journey to pursue their dreams, and they remarked that the AUN environment appears promising.

A minute silence was earlier observed, in memory and honor of one of our dear, late student, Ahmed Abdulkadir Tukur, a Natural Environmental Science student, in the School of Arts and Sciences, who passed at the end of last Fall semester.
