British journalist and humanitarian, Ms. Isha Sesay, has once again shown her unwavering support for the Chibok girls studying at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) by donating $1000 to AUN’s New Foundation School. This generous donation was distributed to the girls by AUN President Dr. DeWayne Frazier, who expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the university community for Ms. Sesay’s unwavering commitment to empowering and supporting these young women.
Each student received 25,000 Naira, bringing both financial support and a renewed sense of encouragement from one of their most steadfast advocates. In his address, Dr. Frazier praised Ms. Sesay’s commitment, highlighting how her involvement has helped instill resilience in the students. “Isha Sesay’s support goes beyond just donations; she has been a source of hope and strength to these girls from the very beginning,” he stated.
Sesay, known for her extensive humanitarian work and her role in the global “Bring Back Our Girls” campaign, has consistently supported the Chibok girls’ journey since they first arrived at AUN. In 2014, when the girls began their studies, she ensured they were well-equipped by donating laptops to help them pursue their educational dreams. This latest donation, presented as a surprise gift, reflects her continued commitment to their growth and success.
Among those expressing appreciation was Helen Musa, one of the Chibok girls, who shared how much Ms. Sesay’s support has meant to them. “Aunty Isha’s support reminds us that we are never alone on this journey. She is an inspiration to all of us,” Helen said, with gratitude shining in her eyes. For Helen and the other girls, Sesay’s encouragement is more than financial aid it’s a symbol of hope, faith, and the belief that they have a future worth fighting for.
Sesay’s efforts to uplift the Chibok girls, who survived abduction and hardship, are part of her broader humanitarian focus on education and empowerment for young women in conflict zones. As a board member of the “Bring Back Our Girls” Foundation, Sesay has consistently used her platform as a journalist and advocate to highlight the issues facing women and girls in crisis. Her ongoing generosity has strengthened the young women’s resolve to rise above adversity and forge paths of independence and purpose.
The event witnessed a renewed commitment from AUN’s leadership to continue providing an environment where the Chibok girls and other students can flourish. Dr. Frazier remarked, “We are deeply honored to have supporters like Isha Sesay, whose kindness and advocacy help us continue this important work.”
