On October 18, 2024, the American University of Nigeria (AUN) School of Information Technology and Computing (SITC) held its eagerly awaited Senior Design Project Poster Presentation, drawing a diverse crowd of visitors and tech enthusiasts from within and outside the university community.
This exhibition serves as a cornerstone of academic excellence at AUN, highlighting the innovative projects developed by SITC seniors. During the event, participants showcased their work, addressing various challenges while receiving constructive feedback from faculty members, industry professionals, and community members. This enriching experience not only underscores the hard work of the students but also reflects AUN's dedication to integrating global best practices in tackling local issues.
“This event is critical in our students' academic journeys,” stated Dr. Amir Mohammed Sa’ad, Head of Data Analyst for SITC and program coordinator. “The poster presentation project which includes implementation base design and research base is the cornerstone of their BSc degree, providing an opportunity to tackle real-world problems. Through this process, students enhance their knowledge, develop creative problem-solving skills, and refine their ability to present complex ideas effectively” he concluded.
The projects featured in this year's presentation illustrate a range of applications within computing, software, IT systems, and business process re-engineering. By solving significant problems relevant to the local community, students demonstrate their capacity to apply scientific and engineering principles in impactful ways.
One of the exhibitors, Fortune Gabriel explained that he has learned a great deal about addressing real-world challenges through his coursework at AUN, and he feels excited that it’s now time to apply what he has learned. “AUN has equipped us with the tools and knowledge needed to tackle these problems head-on, fostering our growth as problem-solvers. This experience is not just about theoretical knowledge; it’s about practical application, and I’m eager to make a meaningful impact.”
Mr. Jonathan Ray from the AUN Academy shared his enthusiasm for the event, expressing keen interest in the students’ projects and their strategies for tackling contemporary challenges. Among the highlights was a poster detailing an AI-driven academic system, which Ray lauded as an innovative concept with the potential to enhance existing practices and align with the evolving demands of today's world. He emphasized that the methodologies presented could play a crucial role in addressing urgent issues within the educational landscape.
The 2024 SDP/SRP Poster Presentation at AUN showcased a vibrant display of creativity and collaboration, receiving high praise from visitors. Attendees noted the institution's commitment to nurturing the next generation of tech leaders.
