Judicial Affairs Director Appointed ASCA Chair

American University of Nigeria’s (AUN) Director of Judicial Affairs, Mbursa Gwany has been appointed International Region Chair for the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) in Dallas, Texas.

The ASCA is an international organization focused on advancing the student conduct profession. In his new leadership role, Mr. Gwany will lead international affairs with direction provided by the association’s Board, as well as champion ASCA’s 2020- 2021 strategic plan and priorities.

ASCA is a leading voice for student conduct in higher education. ASCA’s network of qualified professionals is dedicated to cultivating student responsibility and accountability through prevention education, investigation, and adjudication. ASCA members are trained and equipped to uphold the integrity of the student conduct process, resulting in the ability to build safer educational communities and positively impact the higher education experience.

Mr. Gwany, a lawyer by profession, leads the AUN Office of Judicial Affairs. The office maintains a safe and secure campus community through administration of the Student Conduct Code and also enforces appropriate rules, regulations, and policies.

The Association for Student Judicial Affairs (ASJA) was established in 1986 at theUniversity of Louisville.The body serves as a collective voice to promote and advance the highest standards of practice in the student conduct profession. Its impact on the education sector is driven by promoting value proven and learning-centered practices, creative solutions, and effective knowledge dissemination.

Mr. Gwany’s appointment is a testament to one of ASCA’s core values; a responsibility to provide opportunities to develop leadership capacity within the Association and in the broader student conduct profession.
