A 400-level student of the AUN School of Law, Izuchukwu Izuchukwu, has donated food and medical care items to Internally displaced persons of the Malkohi Camp, in Yola.
The intervention on November 1, 2019, was fully funded by his NGO, Great Dawn Organization, with support from his colleagues in other schools. Items given out include corn, garri, salt, toilet soaps, slippers, detergents, malaria drugs and injections, and de-wormers.
Izuchukwu, who hails from Umuahia in Abia State, said that he was motivated by the desire to give back to society, especially the less privileged. He added that his experience with the CDV course and community service outings overtime have also majorly influenced the decision for him and his foundation to come to the aid of the internally displaced persons.
The situation of IDPs in the camps is sad and deplorable. He said it is hard to watch, and even more surprising is that in 2019 people are living under such harsh conditions with a diverse government.
This is a charity that is well at home. Since 2017, after the founding of his NGO, Izuchukwu has been impacting the life of his people back home.
Three times a year, the Foundation holds capacity building programs on leadership, development, and entrepreneurship, for youths in the area, and also sponsors skill acquisition training.
