Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Professor Attahir Yusuf, has counseled entering students to align their interests with their subject flair to develop their potentials and be useful to society.
In his Convocation and Pledge Ceremony remarks to the new students of the Classes of 2023, 2025, and 2026, the Provost reminded them that by enrolling at AUN, they had chosen a university "whose aim is to teach and nurture future critical thinking leaders and innovators to serve societal needs."
He advised them to take full advantage of AUN's academic support resources, including the Writing Center, library, and IT, irrespective of the major they choose.
"There are many opportunities: develop your class project into a business start-up; Participate in a research project; take part in competitions; overseas exchange program; internship; Writing Centre; Career Development Centre," Professor Attahir advised them.
The Provost further advised the new students to strictly adhere to AUN codes of conduct in order to have a rewarding and complete experience at AUN.
"At AUN, we do not only groom you to be proficient in different skills, but also prepare you to be individuals of character and integrity as our values are anchored on Integrity, Excellence, and Service," he stated.
While welcoming the newest members of the Stallion Family to the fold, Professor Attahir reminded them that with Covid-19 infections on the rise around the world, they must remain vigilant and compliant with all existing preventive protocols in place on campus, including getting vaccinated, wearing a face mask, using hand sanitizers and maintaining social distancing.
