SBE Trains AUN Security Staff on Strategic Management

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, 270 staff members of the AUN Safety & Security Department who completed a training workshop on Strategic Management and Security, received certificates of participation. The AUN School of Business and Entrepreneurship organized the workshop which lasted for four weeks.

At the certificate presentation ceremony held inside the Security Training Center in Admin 1, Dr. Hassan Yusuf, Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Chair of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Management, explained that the training aimed at improving the skills and effectiveness of staff of the Safety and Security department.

"They play an important role in keeping this campus safe and secure. Our AUN parents trust in their ability to provide excellent round-the-clock security and in looking after their wards. It is therefore important to keep them updated on new ideas and strategies for effective safety and security management".

The facilitator stressed that the knowledge the participants have acquired will be impactful in their personal lives, and how they manage their finances and jobs. He also refers to the strength of the certificate as a strong brand. "Anywhere they go to, with this certificate, they will be recognized, that they have an appreciable knowledge in strategic management of the security function".

Mr. Anthony Fadaka, Registrar/VP of Administration also appreciated the effort of the organizers of the workshop, encouraging the beneficiaries to continue to improve themselves for better productivity in AUN. The Registrar also urged them to make judicious use of the skills they got from the training and to share their knowledge with their team members.

The beneficiaries were delighted after completing the professional course. Ms. Elizabeth Enu, Principal Supervisor, Safety and Security, said that the workshop has changed her perception towards life generally. It has also helped her to adopt a saving culture. "If we had this workshop earlier, it would have made a lot of difference in our decision making, but thank God we have it now".

Mr. Emmanuel Augustine, Acting ACSO Safety & Security, also said that the workshop has expanded his horizon in the areas of security and business: "there were many things I never knew; I have been rather intuitive, but with this workshop, I will be able to manage and engage with the people I work with a planned approach”. Mr. Augustine promised to apply the managerial skills he acquired from the training to enhance his daily activities at AUN.

Professor Leo Ukpong, Dean of the School of Business & Entrepreneurship, Dr. Lionel Rawlins, VP of Safety & Security Operations, and other principal officers of AUN were among the guests at the ceremony.
