On November 22, 2019, the Chairman/HOD, Division of Engineering, Dr. Abubakar Sadiq Hussaini, highlighted the concept of computer networks and their relevance across various disciplines at the network and networking session for all new students.
"Computer networks and networking are requisite in today's businesses and the educational ecosystem. It is an easy, proficient and productive means of communication and collaboration," Dr. Hussaini told the students.
Dr. Hussaini, who chairs the Telecoms & Wireless Technology program, described the network as a collection of computers connected to share data and other resources such as printers and file servers. "This implies that networking allows real-time sending and receiving of messages, data, and files with the help of an Elabinternet connection," he explained.
Elaborating, Dr. Hussaini said the internet itself could be likened to a computer network, providing a central access point (server), which reduces the number of storage servers an organization requires and maximizes operational efficiency.
The session seeks to educate students from different fields of study on what computer networks and networking are all about and how relevant it is to them.
