Winning Neil Doherty Prize by AUN Doctoral Students Excites Community

Winning the Neil Doherty Prize for the best paper at the recently concluded conference of the United Kingdom Academy of Information Systems (KAIS) by two doctoral students is generating excitement in the AUN Community.

The students, Munir Kubau Maharazu and Ms. Sumayya Babangida Sabo, and their supervisor Dr. Samuel Utulu, have brought honor and global attention to the AUN Graduate School program. Their award-winning paper is entitled 'Community of Practice Approach to Understanding Factors Influencing Informal M-health Use among Janitors in an IT-rich Context.' The study outlines important socio-technical processes for improving access and uses of M-Health systems in resource-poor contexts. The students are from the Information Systems Department of the School of Information Technology and Computing (SITC).

President Ensign expressed the joy of the AUN Community:

After the COVID-19 pandemic, M-Health is increasingly seen as a potential lifeline for remote health monitoring and consultation. Our students and faculty are among the very early researchers in this burgeoning field.

Our graduate students and faculty play a critical role in our mission as a development university by delivering research with the highest possible impact on our society and the human condition. We should all be very proud of them.

Please join me in congratulating these outstanding students for their hard work, their faculty supervisor, the School of Information Technology & Computing, and our Graduate School.
