Women's Leadership Council Gives Financial Incentive to Widows

On April 20, 2023, the AUN Women Leadership Council (WLC) hosted a group of vulnerable women from the local community in Dorm CC's common room.

Among those who attended were widows and low-income women. They received tokens of cash gifts as incentives.

The President of WLC and Law student, Ms. Salomi Darego, said the financial gifts further motivated the women, mostly widows and others who lack people to fend for them in their old age.

"This is an endeavor to reach out to widows, and women who don't have caregivers or providers in their homes anymore. We reached out to these women, all ten of them got an envelope which contains some cash as incentive to ameliorate their conditions a little."

Ms. Aisha Isa, one of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of the widows, thanked the Women's Leadership Council members for taking it upon themselves to look out for them. She said that the gesture would go a long way to alleviate their hardship.

"Thank you very much, may Allah replenish your purse abundantly, may Allah help you just like you have helped us, and may He protect you all," she prayed.
