Oladotun Bolade

Assistant Professor

Oladotun Bolade is an assistant professor and management systems expert with experience in professional development, environmental sustainability, and ecological restoration.  He started his career in the Energy industry as an environmental scientist and was actively involved in large-scale hydrocarbon remediation & environmental restoration projects in Nigeria, particularly the Niger Delta Region. His firsthand experience of the impact of decades of crude oil pollution on communities, and the urgent need for innovative local solutions inspired his research focus during his doctorate degree - the development of a facile nanomaterial from a locally sourced plant for near-complete remediation of hydrocarbon contamination.
He has consulted widely with public and private sector organizations on implementing and managing energy, environmental, quality, food, and occupational & health management systems based on ISO standards, including recently leading a team of experts across states in southern Nigeria for the World Bank-Assisted National Urban Water Sector Reform Project, where he helped train and develop policies for state water agencies in line with goal 6 of the UN SDGs.
He leads the GENAC cluster - a multidisciplinary research group focused on mentoring graduate students in green chemistry and environmental sustainability. He has published papers from his work in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presented the findings at international conferences. Dr. Oladotun teaches undergraduate courses such as polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, and general chemistry.
