On November 29, the AUN Health Center Clinic conducted free HIV screening for the university community as part of a wellness initiative to mark the 2018 World AIDS Day.
Many members of the faculty, staff, and students participated in the exercise, which took place at the AUN Health Center Annex in the student residence hall
“This program will benefit the community members in knowing their HIV status,” the Center’s Chief Administrator, Philip Eappen, said, noting many of them are not aware of their condition.
If anyone is positive, there will be a follow-up check at the Health Center. Mr. Eappen promised to work with the Federal Ministry of Health to provide all necessary drugs and medications to ensure any infected person is placed under treatment. He added that the results and records are highly confidential.
Mr. Simon Ayuba, a beneficiary of the program, applauded the Health Center for coming up with the free testing.
