On October 12, the staff members of Residence Life, an arm of Student Affairs in charge of residential affairs, were trained in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
The training which was facilitated by Mr. Joshua Nwambo, a nurse from the AUN Health Center, took the participants through basic emergency procedures.
Mr. Nwambo discussed the first steps to be carried out during some situations such as Snake bites, Hot water burns, Asthma attack, Convulsion, and Muscle Pull. He also took them through CPR, an advanced form of First-Aid, carried out on someone with Cardiac arrest.
The coordinator of RESLIFE, Mrs. Rabi Abubakar, explained that it was imperative for the members to have basic knowledge of First-Aid and CPR to enable them to cope with emergencies in their respective dormitories.
David John, Resident Assistant of Hall BB, commended the training, describing it as “very insightful, especially the CPR aspect,” having exposed him to how to give first aid for cardiac arrest.
