AUN Appoints Dr. Yusuf Kani as Dean of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship

The American University of Nigeria (AUN) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Yusuf Kani as the substantive Dean of the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE). The announcement was made by the President of the University, Prof. DeWayne Frazier, in a statement to the AUN community.

Dr. Kani, an Associate Professor of Business Administration, has been serving as Interim Dean since last year, stepping in under challenging circumstances following the sudden passing of the late Dean, Dr. Hassan. Despite the short notice, his leadership ensured that the School of Business and Entrepreneurship not only sustained its operations but also achieved remarkable progress.

“With his ‘can-do’ spirit and unwavering commitment, Dr. Kani has provided stability, innovation, and inspiration to both faculty and students,” the statement noted. “We are deeply grateful for his dedication to the success of SBE and the broader AUN community.”

Dr. Kani earned his Ph.D. in Management (Marketing) from Universiti Putra Malaysia and brings over two decades of academic, professional, and leadership experience. His career spans Nigeria, Sudan, and Malaysia, where he has taught, conducted research, and mentored countless students in management and marketing. He is widely published in leading journals and also contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for the International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing.

Beyond academia, Dr. Kani has made significant contributions in international development and consultancy. He is an Associate Trainer with RedR UK and previously served as a consultant trainer with the Finnish Red Cross in Darfur, Sudan. He has also held key leadership positions, including Head of the Department of Business Administration and Marketing and Program Leader of the Global MBA in Impact Entrepreneurship, delivered in partnership with the E4Impact Foundation and UCSC Milan, Italy, at the University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Sudan.

In his new role as Dean, Dr. Kani is expected to build on his track record of innovation, academic excellence, and student-centered leadership. The University expressed confidence in his ability to guide SBE to even greater achievements, noting: “We look forward to the visionary leadership Dr. Kani will bring as we continue to drive AUN to greater heights.”
