During a recent assessment visit by a delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC), the American University of Nigeria (AUN) was commended for its state-of-the-art facilities. The delegation was overwhelmed by the impressive mechanical and civil engineering workshop facilities, which are equipped with latest technology tools. The team also described some of the student projects they saw as inspiring.
However, the team advised the university to set up an Equipment Maintenance Center, which is a more common practice in most universities than the Projects and Maintenance Unit currently operated by the university. “The transformation from an Equipment Maintenance Unit to an Equipment Maintenance center is essential," NUC team leader Prof. Efe Ehioghae stated.
The Head of AUN Projects, Architect Abubakar Bunu, assured the team that AUN would take their advice seriously and enhance its equipment maintenance unit. He also expressed gratitude to the NUC for providing AUN with the opportunity to pursue initiatives that align with the standards of an American university.
The team concluded their tour with a visit to the University's President, Dr. DeWayne Frazier, who warmly received them and expressed his deep appreciation for the delegation's thorough assessment and valuable feedback, which would help AUN continue to deliver high-quality education and research.
