On November 30, 2023, the President of American University Honor Society (AUNHS), Ms. Safiyyah Auwal, and her executives unveiled one of the Society’s philanthropic efforts to AUN President, Prof. DeWayne Frazier, who joined the students for an inspection of the completed electrification project at Saint Suzanne Orphanage Home, Kwannan Waya, In Yola South Local Government Area of Adamawa state.
Before the intervention, the Honor Society members had reached out to Saint Suzana Orphanage and identified a crucial need for the vulnerable orphans, which was the lack of electricity. Hence, they took on the project to provide electricity to the Orphanage, linking it the national electricity grid.
An emotional President Frazier who presented a cash gift to the Proprietress of St. Susana Orphanage Home for vulnerable children said he is constantly amazed at the generosity and the caring heart of the students at AUN. “When the students of our Honors Program first informed me they were sponsoring an orphanage, it touched me and I knew I wanted to go with them to see the program. As many people know, three of my children are from orphanages on the African Continent, and these places hold a special place in my heart.
“I am thankful to our AUN students and the entire staff at Saint Suzana Orphanage for their impact on children who have no material wealth.” he added
Saint Suzana expressed gratitude to the AUN President and students for their continued support. She said AUN has been a pillar of hope for her and the orphans and prayed to God to reward the students for their kindness, care, and love.
The American University of Nigeria Honor Society (AUNHS) is an association of outstanding students who represent and maintain the highest levels of academic and ethical excellence. The society is made up of a multicultural and diverse group of students unified in their mission to create a better community through scholarship and service. The impact of the AUNHS is not limited to the four walls of the AUN campus. AUNHS consistently initiates projects within the local community in accordance with the university’s vision of leading as a development university for Nigeria and Africa.
