The Department of Human Resources and Planning at the American University of Nigeria (AUN) held a three-day training workshop from November 13 to 15, 2024, specifically tailored for staff from the Security and Facilities Management departments. This comprehensive workshop addressed vital topics such as wellness and stress management, financial planning, work ethics, safety and hazard prevention, and customer service.
In her opening remarks, Dr. Faizatu Abubakar, the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources, underscored the importance of empowering employees to thrive both professionally and personally. She reiterated AUN’s commitment to investing in its workforce to nurture a productive and supportive work environment.
The workshop featured several knowledgeable facilitators, including Mr. Babalola Olajubu, the school psychologist, who offered practical strategies for managing stress and promoting wellness. Mr. Ikechukwu Okoro from the Finance Department shared valuable insights on personal finance management and income diversification. Additionally, Mr. Mustapha Atiku Abubakar, Director of Human Resources, addressed the critical importance of professionalism and ethical behavior within the workplace.
Engr. Muhammed Abana from Facilities Management provided crucial training on safety and hazard prevention, while Dr. Emmanuel Best from the Communications and Multimedia Design Department led an engaging session focused on enhancing customer service skills. The interactive nature of the sessions enabled participants to exchange experiences, seek practical solutions, and develop skills that will enhance both their productivity and service delivery.
Arc. Abubakar Bunu, Head of Projects at AUN, commended the enthusiasm of the participants and praised the HR team for their efforts in organizing this valuable event. He encouraged the attendees to apply the knowledge they gained to reinforce the university’s commitment to fostering a safe, ethical, and customer-centric workplace culture.
The workshop concluded with a shared sense of purpose and a renewed commitment to excellence in all workplace practices.
