AUN Investment Club Inaugurates New Exco

On November 20, 2019, all seven executive members of the AUN Senior Staff Multi-purpose Cooperative Society who were newly elected were sworn into office.

They are Tunde Animashaun (President), Perpetual Nkiruka Okoji-Nweke (Vice President), Gabriel Peter Ali (General (Secretary), Babatunde Karimu (Financial Secretary), Evelynn Abandy (Treasurer), Kuve Vandi (PRO), and Abiodun Fakayejo (Internal Auditor).

AUN Investment Club, as the organization is also known, was officially registered with the Directorate of Cooperative Societies, Ministry of Commerce, Adamawa State, in March 2018, while the registration process with other relevant authorities (such as EFCC and FIRS) was completed by April 2018. By the end of the year, four persons were appointed to serve for one year as interim executives.

VP Finance & Administration, Olanipekun Olanrewaju, and AVP of HR and Planning, Nourah Bamalli, were at the Exco inauguration. The Vice-President and General Secretary of the AUN Community Cooperative Society, Abigail Dauda and Nnanna Njoku respectively, also attended.

Director, Judicial Affairs, Mbursa Gwany, administered the oath of office.

President Mr. Animashaun said the organization had a clear focus. "We want to build a club that will transform into a major investment company in Nigeria soon."

VP Olanrewaju stressed the need for the executive members to create a process that has checks and balances.

"Ensure that the person is not stronger than the position. And that there is a process to checkmate the person occupying the position. Don't become an institution. You should build an institution that will be able to checkmate you from time to time like a periodic audit."

He also stressed the importance of the collaboration existing between the two cooperative societies.

"I will be looking forward to a kind of healthy competition between the two. You understudy each other. What ideas are you selling to your members? Compete based on what is the size of your balance sheet. What is the size of your investment? Compete based on your Return on Investment."

AVP Nourah Bamalli encouraged members to take savings and investments seriously.

"It's not advisable that we consume all that we get. Investment is important."
