AUN President Leads Free Medical Outreach in Bwaranji Community

The President of the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Dr. DeWayne Frazier, led a free medical outreach to the Bwaranji Community. The outreach program, which is aimed to provide free medical services and medications to the Community, saw over 200 beneficiaries receive free medical consultations and treatments for various ailments, including malaria, typhoid, high blood pressure, skin diseases and allergies, eye infections, etc.

The outreach team comprised AUN's clinic staff, as well as nursing and public health students, who helped diagnose and administer drugs to patients and kept records of the illnesses they treated to help the team plan better for future outreach that will meet the Community's needs. AUN's President, Dr. DeWayne Frazier, emphasized the importance of community engagement and the role of AUN's students in providing healthcare services. He noted that the outreach was not only a chance to give back to the Community but also an opportunity for AUN's students to learn and gain practical experience.

While speaking at the event, the Community Head, Mr Dangana Badito, expressed his profound gratitude for the timely intervention. "I am very grateful for your help with the medications. We now have a relief of some of the pressing challenges we face these days,"   he noted.

A resident of Bwaranji, Hauwau Babaji, who happens to be one of the earliest beneficiaries, said, "My child fainted this morning as she was suffering from a severe fever and we brought her to the Clinic not knowing AUN is here with intervention, we are pleased to receive free treatment."

The AUN's School of Allied and Basic Medical Sciences is one of the best in Nigeria, offering nursing and public health majors.
